The young chess player Timur Fakhrutdinov has performed a high level of game once again, this time at home arena. A traditional City Cup, which is one of the children’s Russian Cup stages, has finished in Yekaterinburg; it was the fourth in succession now.

Timur contended against the boys and teenagers aged up to 15 years. According to Sergey Zhuravlev, a tutor of the gifted chess player, this tournament was a training one for the European champion in Rapid chess for the last year. In as little as a few days Timur Fakhrutdinov together with his teacher will go to Batumi to take part in the Old World Competition of the current season.

The warm-up in Yekaterinburg tournament was undoubtedly successful for the chess player: he had scored 7 victories, tied twice, collected 8 points in 9 rounds and gained the lead in the tournament with confidence. The head-to-head battle between him and Bulat Nizamov, his main opponent from Kazan city, ended in a victory of the chess player from Verkhnyaya Pyshma as well. That time the Sverdlovsk sportsman was playing black and managed to gain initiative in the round in a skilful way.
